What do they see?

As a budding artist, Edgar Degas copied the works of masters such as da Vinci, Michelangelo, Carvaggio, and Delacroix. Early in his professional career, he befriended fellow painters Manet, Cezanne, and Monet and they got together to discuss techniques utilized in each other's artworks.

Solitude is important, since the artist needs time to reflect, create, and experiment. But it is almost as equally beneficial to study other artists' works to constantly push the boundaries of our creativity.
