Barcelona, Spain, is home to an incomplete temple called Sagrada Familia. Its architect, Antoni Gaudi, spent 40 years in its design (beginning in 1883). It is still under construction and scheduled for completion in 2026. When asked about the extremely long construction period, Gaudi simply replied, "my client is not in a hurry."
Regarding creativity, Gaudi said: "Nothing is invented, for it is written in nature first. Originality consists of returning to the origin."
Gaudi died in 1926 when the structure was about 15 percent complete. He is entombed in the crypt on site. The basilica is widely considered to be a masterpiece of architecture.
